help for Haiti

There is a tremendous fundraising effort going on right now and you don’t want to miss it! OMGWTF Barbecue of This Is A Fawn has organized a way for us all to help. Check out the skybox in Scribble, full of goodies from many different designers and vendors. All income received from items being sold there are all being funneled into a single account which is only being used for the cause. Barb also announced on Friday that there is a chance that all funds raised will be matched by Verizon. The last update she posted for the amount raised was over 1.3 million Lindens! So thanks to everyone who is selling items for the cause as well as those donating your hard-earned money to help provide relief for Haiti. I’ve done some shopping there already myself and got some nifty things! Only a few are in the pic, but just to give you an idea….

it’s October and that means we’re coming up on one of the best holidays in SL! the Vampire Hunt began today at 12 am, which meant many a mad scramble by shops getting ready. other Halloween hunts have already been going on (Freaky Fall, Pumpkin Prints, etc)! i decided since my shop was participating in the Vampire Hunt that i would put on something more festive, albeit not vampirish.

food for thought, part 1

One of my favorite quirks of Second Life is the abundance of food-turned-furniture. In rl, these sort of items are relegated to the eclectic furniture shops that most of us just walk around but never buy anything. (well, I’d at least consider it if it wasn’t also usually so expensive..) And let’s face it, in rl many people would think us a bit off if they walked into our livingroom where one of the chairs was really a giant cupcake. I suppose that even in sl it’s not necessarily the average, but I repeatedly find myself drawn to it (and have some in my burgeoning inventory already). I thought I would round up some of my favorites that I’ve seen out and about (and will probably eventually buy it all if I haven’t already, haha) and share them:
